Story Stones

Story Stones: Everyone has a story. Everyone deserves to tell their own.

Stillwater Speech Therapy is taking a plunge into unfamiliar waters…blogging!

Our purpose is to inform, support, encourage, and inspire. We hope you benefit and invite you to share your questions and comments.

Inform

We have a deep knowledge about communication disorders (maybe more than you would need to know!). Chances are, if you are reading a blog about speech-language pathology, you want information on what the science of communication disorders knows about prevention, intervention, and recovery. We can deliver, and will share from credible and reliable sources, while throwing in some ‘funformation’ along the way! Watch out for fun facts on ‘Funformation Fridays’.

Support

We are passionate about the interests of individuals living with (and those who support loved ones with) communication disorders. ‘Supportive Sundays’ will focus on connecting you with resources. These may range from organizations, activity ideas, to the latest trends.

Encourage

To our colleagues, clients, and aspiring clinicians, we strive to fuel hope and confidence in what speech-language pathology can do for you. Speech-language pathology is our passion, and we encourage you to take in ‘Tell-all- Tuesdays’ with tales of triumph and achievement.

Inspire

Whether we succeed in giving you an idea, influence you to act, or simply provoke a reaction, thank you for stopping by. We look forward to building our blog as a hub you can access for support, information, and encouragement. Whether it be through Supportive Sundays, Tell-all-Tuesdays, or Funformation Fridays, hope to see you soon!

Cheers!
Julie

  1. Thanks for providing a useful tool for those needing support in facing communications challenges of all kinds.

    1. What a great blog Julie. You are such an inspiration and we thank you for all the help you provided . Anyone needing help with speech therapy would be so lucky to have you guide them through the process.

      1. Thanks Judy & Rick,
I have great memories of the ‘not so distant’ past. :) I hope you both continue to do well!

  2. If it hadn’t been for Julie my son would not have progressed with his language skills. She is patient, kind, pretty and is a wealth of information for me. She “gets it”, which not a lot of people do. My son took to her from the first. His behaviours could be challenging, but Julie seems to bring out the best in him. I am forever grateful. Thank God for Julie!
Here is a man on Facebook who is down to earth, honest on his daily struggle with his son Kyle’s autism. Check out Autism Daddy at autism-daddy.blogspot.ca

    1. Thank you Darlene – I’ve learned from you that high expectations yield high results. I did my best to try and link directly to the blog page you suggested, but still have some learning to do myself. For those wanting to check it out, you can copy and paste the link to find Autism Daddy.
